Abstract
Purpose: This study suggested the necessity for accurate measurement of astigmatism with Jackson's cross-cylinder lens method in subjective refraction.

Methods: The subjects was a college students(159 eyes) with myopic-astigmatism, who lived in a partial area of gyeonggi-do, and its corrected astigmatism by using the astigmatic fan chart(AFC), then conducted Jackson's cross-cylinder(JCC) lens method again. Comparison analysis was performed, for amount of astigmatism and axis between AFC and JCC.

Results: The amount of astigmatism by using AFC and JCC was 1.27¡¾5.58 D, 1.64¡¾7.86 D respectively, there was no significance(p>0.05). However, the degrees of axis by using AFC and JCC was 122.77¡¾63.85¡Æ and 112.37¡¾67.20¡Æ respectively, there was significantly difference(p<0.05).

Conclusions: Wearing glasses with inaccurate correction of astigmatism and axis induced residual astigmatism and asthenopia. In clinical practise, for more accurate correction of astigmatism and axis, it suggest that the Jackson's cross-cylinder lens method necessary performed.
